Fluff n' Fudge Book Club @ Brandon

We had a killer (pun intended) time at this week's Fluff n' Fudge Book Club as we discussed The Legs Murder Scandal by Hunter Cole. This chilling account resurrects the story of Ouida Keeton, a.k.a. "Mississippi's Lizzie Borden". The story that rocked 1935 Laurel, MS has been largely forgotten. If you missed it, click here to request a copy!

Now as for the fudge, it was simply to die for (again, pun intended). Here is the recipe for Killer Crack Peanut Butter Fudge. Enjoy!

3 cups sugar
3/4 cup butter
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 cup JIF peanut butter
1 7oz. jar marshmallow creme
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugar, butter, and evaporated milk in a heavy 2 1/2 quart saucepan. Bring to a full boil, stirring constantly. Continue boiling over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent scorching. Remove from heat. Add the peanut butter, stirring until melted. Add marshmallow creme and vanilla; beat until well blended.
Spread in a buttered 9x13x2 inch pan. Cool at room temperature, then refrigerate. Cut into squares when firm.

Be sure to join us next time, October 17th @ 10:30, as we read The Lost Years by Mary Higgins Clark. You can get a leg up by requesting it here. As for the fudge, like the book, it's a mystery. Join us to find out!

Happy reading!

Book Discussion

Tuesday, September 18th at 5:30:

Jo S Baggett, author of "Miracles and Blessing Only Come to Those Who Notice Them" will be discussing her book at the Flowood Library. There will be a book signing to follow.

"This is an amazing story of the miracles and blessings bestowed upon one who has totally surrendered her life to Christ. In victory, tragedy, or simply living each day, Jo effectively illustrates through faith and intimacy with God how one can live in a supernatural presence of joy. This joy supersedes all earthly challenges and circumstances. As you will see, Jo’s faith is like a second kind of sight in which she sees Christ right beside her. Her story is wonderfully inspiring and encouraging. Her hope and prayer is for you to experience the marvelous miracles and blessings that God desires for you."-- Breck Tyler

Craft Night

We had a great time at craft night making our Fall wreaths! Word of advice: wrapping a wreath with yarn takes quite some time. But it's also therapeutic, and the end result is this lovely fall decoration (or accessory... they look good as a hat or a very large bangle). If you're interested in our craft program, stop by the Pearl Library every 2nd Tuesday at 6 p.m. or call 601-932-2562 if you have any questions.
