TeenTober

 

 This year’s theme for TeenTober is, “What will you discover at the library?” TeenTober is a month-long celebration by libraries every October to celebrate teens. TeenTober replaced Teen Read Week which allows all libraries the flexibility to celebrate all types of literacies. Visit your local library anytime during the year, especially during TeenTober and check out some of our programs and resources that we offer.

Our libraries have been collecting broken or old toys all through the month of September to make Frankentoys. Some branches may have in-person craft programs and other branches may offer a take-and-make craft for teens. You would take the damaged toys and make them into a super cool Frankentoy. It’s a great way to recycle toys without throwing them out in the garbage. After you are finished, share your creation to our Facebook page, Central Mississippi Regional Library System (CMRLS), and tag it with #cmrlsteentober. Tween and Teen Programs

Minecraft

March is already here and with a new month comes new events! March 1-7 is Teen Tech Week. This week is meant for teenagers to improve their knowledge with different technology they can find at the library. These may include DVDs, databases, audiobooks, videogames, and other technology that is provided by the library.

In the month of March, Sebastopol Public Library is hosting Minecraft for 4 days to celebrate Teen Tech Week. Come join us, bring your kids, or someone you know to enhance creativity while interacting with others in the world of Minecraft!

Winter Crafters!

It's the last week of winter! What better to do than some winter crafts in this cold weather? Join us for the last week of winter as we try out some amazing winter crafts!

Teen Tech Week: Minecraft

We do not want to leave out the younger children in such a fun event, so this event is for ages 5-18! Come join us, bring your kids, or someone you know to enhance creativity while interacting with others in the world of Minecraft!

Merry March Events at the Morton Library

February has flown by, and so have our wonderful February programs. The kids really enjoyed making Valentine’s Day cards to send to hospitalized veterans. Below are just a few of the cards that were made.

If you missed our February programs, that is okay because the Morton Library has many fun and exciting events planned for everyone to enjoy.

As usual we have Preschool Story Time every Tuesday morning at 10:30. This month's themes are:

March 5th: Dr. Seuss

March 12th: St. Patrick's Day

March 19th: Rabbits

March 26th: Llamas

So, bring your little ones and join us for stories, music, and crafts!

March 4-9 is Teen Tech week and we will be participating by hosting an Engineering Challenge! During the challenge each team will be designing a tower made from dried spaghetti and marshmallows; the team who builds the tallest standing tower will win a small prize. The Engineering Challenge will be held March 7^th at 5:00 p.m.

March is also the birth month of beloved author Dr. Seuss, and we would like to celebrate with a birthday party. Join us March 14^th at 5:00 p.m. to celebrate Dr. Seuss with crafts and snacks!

Family Bingo Night is back by popular demand! Join us March 21^st at 5:00 p.m. to play the classic game of Bingo and win some prizes.

Remember our Library Lover’s Month gift basket drawing will be March 1^st, so come by and get your name in the drawing to win!
