OH WHAT SWEET HEARTS WE WEAVE AT PEARL!

Lana is busy looping her sweet, little heart into a wonderful February Simply Crafts program at the Pearl Public Library!   That's right!    February, the month of love and it's most identifiable symbol....the heart!  On Tuesday, February 9 at 6 p.m., Lana will be featuring paper weaved hearts!

"This craft makes me think of basket weaving with paper," says Lana. "To me, the art of weaving in general is kind of fascinating. What better way to honor Valentine's Day than by making a craft heart! We will weave red, pink and/or white construction paper into a red shaped heart!

Hey, you simply cannot miss this this craft night!  No reservation is required and all materials are supplied! You can't beat that!

BOOK CLUB IN PEARL CHOOSES LOCAL, MYSTERY WRITER!


John M. Floyd
February is shaping up to be something special for the Chapter 1 Book Club at the Pearl Library. Books by Mississippi author, John M. Floyd, a celebrated writer, will be the subject of the book club's 6 p.m. Thursday, February 11 meeting. 

Floyd is best known for mystery writing. His most recent work is a short story collection, Fifty Mysteries: The Angela Files was published in 2014. Other works include Deception, Midnight, Clockwork and Rainbow's End.

The books named below are only a fraction of Floyd's work. He began writing professionally in 1994 and has published over 1,000 stories and features in widely-read publications like Woman’s WorldAlfred Hitchcock's  Mystery Magazine, and The Saturday Evening Post

Floyd, a Rankin County resident and a graduate of Mississippi State University, has won the coveted Derringer Award for short mystery fiction.   He teaches creative writing at Millsaps College’s Enrichment Program in Jackson.    Floyd is a former Air Force captain and worked for IBM Corporation for thirty years. He and his wife, Carolyn, have three grown children and six grandchildren and live in Brandon.

You don't want to miss out!  Library staffer Patsy, who heads up the book club, encourages all to select any work by Floyd and come join an evening of fun discussion!  The Chapter 1 Book Club is free and no reservation is required. You don't have to be a member and you don't have to join.  Just come on by! As always there will be door prizes and light refreshments!
