November is National American Indian Heritage Month, a time
to discover and celebrate the culture, contributions, challenges, successes, and
histories of North America’s indigenous people groups. On Monday, November 18 at 6:00 p.m., Brandon Library Family Night will celebrate (note: this is different from our normally scheduled time on Thursday). Activities will include doing floor puzzles, making Thanksgiving
tangrams, reading a Native American "Giving Thanks" story, munching on
snacks, and drinking cranberry juice.
On Tuesday, November 19 at 11:00 a.m., we will also be presenting
“Genealogy for Beginners.” During this time, participants will learn how to
begin researching their family trees using Ancestry: Library Edition and
Heritage Quest. We will also provide handouts with free web links and
resources for genealogy. Attendants should
bring their library cards. They may also
use either their own laptops or one provided by the library.
And keep looking for ducks!
