The Economist and Forbes (which we have through Magnolia here) have declared
2019 “The Year of the Vegan” and the revolution has already reached Brandon.
Many of your favorite fast food restaurants, including McDonald’s, Chick-Fil-A,
Burger King, and Subway, are offering meatless versions of your
favorite meals and supermarkets are stocking meatless burger patties and steaks.
Although it’s estimated a quarter of
Americans aged 25- to 34-years-old declare themselves vegetarians or vegans,
people of all ages benefit from meatless living. Take it from someone who’s been a vegetarian
for forty-one years, it’s not hard to switch to a vegetarian/vegan diet. The Central Mississippi Regional Library
System has a lot of excellent vegetarian/vegan cookbooks to make it an easy
transition; stop into the nearest branch for help.
So,
with fewer than six weeks left until 2020, are you ready to join the
revolution? To help you get started I’ve attached links to two great recipes I
can recommend for vegan chili (here) and vegetarian
jalapeno cheddar cornbread (here) to help you through the long, cold winter nights.
