Eleanor Jones | Branch Manager | Northwest Point Reservoir Library

Eleanor has been part of CMRLS for 10 years!

Here's more from Eleanor:

1. What is your favorite part of working in the library?

I get to look at and read ALL of the books! The patrons are pretty fantastic, too!

2. Was there a book that made you love reading?

My mother was an avid reader and took us to a used book store in Vicksburg growing up. I grew up with Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume.

3. Tell us one e-resource you wish more people knew about.

Cloudlibrary is my go-to when we don't have the physical copy of a book, or there is a long wait for it. I love flipping through the pages of a book, but I am thankful for an e-book when the print one is unavailable!

4. What do you like to do when you're not at the library?

I like to work outside and watch my son play baseball.

5. What is your idea of the perfect vacation?

Anywhere that has sand and waves rolling in.

6. What is your favorite holiday?

I've collected Christmas ornaments for years, so it would have to be Christmas. My grandmother left me her Christmas village, and I look forward to putting it on the mantle each year.

5. What is your idea of the perfect vacation?

When it comes to the perfect getaway, nothing beats a beach vacation with my family, where we can unwind and bask in the beauty of the ocean. I really enjoy visiting white sand beaches, especially ones where I can engage in various activities such as parasailing, snorkeling, jet ski riding, and much more.

6. What is your favorite holiday?

I enjoy the Christmas holiday because it brings my family together. We have gathered in a house where we will enjoy all the delicious foods. 3. Tell us one e-resource you wish more people knew about.

I wish more parents and teens knew about the free Driver's Ed Program online where you can take practice tests. The website is cmrls.driving-tests.org. I tell our patrons, once you get at least 90% on the tests, you're ready for the DMV.

My mom and dad always read to me as a child, so I was introduced to books at a very young age. However, one special moment of my childhood stands out. When I was about 4 years old, my aunt gave me a book for Christmas. It was “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats. She took the time to read it to me, snuggled together on my grandmother’s couch. To this day, that book is one of my top favorites!

Goodreads - it’s a fun way to keep track of your reads and create custom reading lists, as well as see what your friends are reading. It gives you a chance to follow your favorite authors and see book reviews of all reads, old or new. It’s like social media designed just for your books!

4. What do you like to do when you're not at the library?

Traveling, cooking, dancing, watching movies and Netflix, listening to music, swimming, shopping, writing in my journal, napping, and reading.

5. What is your idea of the perfect vacation?
